When he looks at me

When he caresses my cheek with his finger,

The gentle sensation silences my racing mind.

I let go and savour the moment of love.

He looks at me like I captivate him,

Like he cares for me,

Like he wants the best for me,

Like he loves me.

He looks at me and sees nothing wrong with me,

Like my flaws and mistakes don’t taint who I am.

When he looks into my eyes,

He sees the depth of my soul,

I feel myself melting into him,

I feel his love permeate every fibre of my being…

  1. What a beautiful poem. I think it captures the deeper meanings of love – it’s not about the big, fancy events, but the little forgettable moments where you’re just one person under the guise of two.

  2. Ah, this is beautiful! I love how illustrative it is in regard to love. I struggle with love, in terms of understanding or comprehending it, whether it’s because of child abuse or because I’m autistic, so this poem was en pointe. I especially like

“He looks at me and sees nothing wrong with me,
Like my flaws and mistakes don’t taint who I am.”

    1. I’m so glad the poem touched your heart 🤗🤗 And don’t worry – I’m also still on a journey to understanding love and letting go of past hurts, pretty much giving them to God 😊

  3. How beautiful! Reading this made my heart feel warm and happy. And reminded me of how I feel when my husband looks at me! Thank you for sharing.
