IS SPANKING AN EFFECTIVE FORM OF CHILD DISCIPLINE?

To spank or not to spank has been a big parenting debate over the last few years as parents questioned its effectiveness as part of child discipline.

Some parents and organizations believe that spanking is ineffective as it incites fear and dishonesty in children while being a form of child abuse, while others say that when administered properly in times of unruly toddler behaviour, it can be effective.

Child experts say that there’s no concrete evidence to prove that spanking is good or bad or safe or dangerous, and that it boils down to the parents’ discretion. They do advise though on safety precautions when spanking, which include ensuring that parents aren’t overly stressed out or angry when spanking.

  1. hell they say shouting is a form of child abuse nowadays. Look at the unruly teenagers today. One may say that their parents should have whop their ass when they were younger……

    1. Right?! Spanking really doesn’t hurt anyone, and it depends on your child. If they are the naughty type that don’t listen easily, it could help. And if they are the sensitive type that respond to verbal discipline, then so be it. It’s all about knowing your child.
