Singer Rihanna was this week honored with Harvard University’s Peter J. Gomes Humanitarian Award for her charitable work in education and healthcare in the Caribbean.
She was recognized for her work in building an oncology centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, and for her Clara Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program which supports Caribbean students attending college in the U.S. The university also recognized the singer’s work with the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, which aims to ensure children in developing nations have access to an education.
