IZIKHOTHANE – A SOUTH AFRICAN YOUTH TREND

Everyone knows that young people are crazy and do questionably insane stuff at times in the name of being young, and sub cultures and social trends grow out of such insanity.

Let me introduce you to the Izikhothane; groups of young black South Africans, who spend a fortune on expensive clothes and luxury items, then destroy them publicly to gain social status. This trend has been going on for quite a while, and what’s crazy about it is that most of the youngsters who partake in this trend are unemployed, so they rely on their already cash-strapped families to feed their fetish which helps them fit into the sub-culture.

    • Yea hey, I guess there’s nothing wrong with looking good, but if its at the expense of others and you’re own well being then its an issue. The guys have started a trend though..
